Some more maps are on the way!

First up, CoolDude, a long-time Lockdown regular, is working on a Jailbreak remake of the CTF map Chrome. There's a beta version available, so try it out and let him know what you think.

Second, Kantham, a mapper new to the Jailbreak community, tells me he is putting the finishing touches to a map set in a Skaarj oil refinery. He's sent me a screenshot, and hopes to have it released fairly soon.

Now for some reason, pool tables have a special place in the hearts of the Jailbreak community. One of the best-loved UT Jailbreak maps took place on a giant pool table, and a return to the genre was bound to come along eventually.

It was some time ago that I told you about Spoondog's work on a pool table map (and asked you about the name of the UTJB pool table map; it was GreenBaize, and RevBillyG wins a cookie). Now Spoondog tells me that his map, Eightball is coming up to the beta stage. Here's a shot of the execution sequence: some players about to be squashed by pool balls.

PPS. Sexmachine tells me Rev was wrong about GreenBaize, that's the map he made for DeathBall. The Jailbreak map had the highly original title of JB-Pooltable. I'll have that cookie back now, Rev!

PPPS. Rev wasn't wrong. My fault. I misread the thread. You can have the cookie back Rev. But it's looking a bit flaky and soggy now.

Looking for new and fun ways to dispatch pesky prisoners? On request from ZedMaestro, mapper and coder Blitz has adapted UT2004's Assault cannons to work in jail executions. Souped up to fire projectiles as well as lasers, they are JB2004 Execution Sentinel Cannons.

Both ZedMaestro and Birelli are currently working on maps that will include these, but you can check them out right now for your own mapping. Get the full specification and download link from the JDN, and

Our two community fragmeets, the Sunday Lockdown and the Wednesday Parole are changing. From Sunday 7 November, the Sunday Lockdown is for Jailbreak 2004. The Wednesday meeting will also be changing, to "classic" UT Jailbreak III. So basically, we're switching the games round. We're moving JB2004 to the more popular Sunday slot because of comments from the community about not enough people playing it.

So arm yourself up, you've got a few more days of training with the bots till you take on the Jailbreak team! The Lockdown counter on the right of this page will tell you just how long you have, and if by some chance you've not yet heard of our Sunday Lockdown, now is your chance to find out!
