JBPickups mutator released

Mychaeel has decided to try his hand at Unreal scripting and has come up with a little mutator called 'JBPickups'. This mutator allows the admin of a server or standalone game to control under which circumstances pickups are respawned in UTJB. You can now have pickups respawn after a capture or after the teams are restarted due to the time limit being exceeded. You can even decide what kind of pickups should be respawned.

DireIce releases JB-MilitiaThunder

DireIce has informed us that he has released the final version of JB-MilitiaThunder, a level featuring two facing bases guarded by auxilliary buildings. There are also lots and lots of exploding things and a really cool escape route from jail. DireIce is one of the more prominent UTJB mappers out there, and his work is always worthwhile, so check it out.


Several relevant issues

It has come to my attention that there are several issues with UTJB2 that need to be taken into account. None of them are showstopper bugs, but server admins should take special notice:

-Bots can not have custom meshes, except for those from the first bonus pack; the nali, the Skaarj hybrid, and the war cow. This restriction does not apply to players.
-The server log tends to fill up with warnings. This has no effect on gameplay, but you may want to keep an eye on the size of your logs.
-A glitch in JB-Freya makes in unsuitable for online play. It's fine offline, though. I suggest removing it from the rotation until a fix can be offered.

Rest assured that I am taking these issues very seriously. I trust they will not prove too detrimental to your enjoyment of UTJB.


UTJB 2 Released!

Slightly sooner than expected. I'm not complaining. This new version features many improvements over the original. The code has been cleaned up immensely and it's now much easier to work out what's going on thanks to a greatly improved HUD. Many niggling bugs have also been fixed. The new UTJB is much prettier than the previous version, with an easy to understand HUD depicting the status of the two teams, the player's own current status and even a compass to help players find the release switch. New bot states cause jailed bots to slouch around and even fall asleep, while free bots are easier to control thanks to a new stance slider. The biggest improvement has to be the maps. While the original featured only four maps, three of them by myself, the new version comes with no less than twelve maps by five different people. All of them are of the highest quality and guarantee hours of fun, both on line and off.
